Seesaw

This term we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in class called Seesaw. This is a really great tool which allows each child to have their own learning blog, as well as an overall class blog. Your child will have his or her own learning blog, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of class. I am really excited to try this out, as it means the children will have more control over sharing their learning because Seesaw is much more child friendly.

Monster Magic!

This week we made monsters. Every morning when we got to school they had mysteriously moved! Last night we decided to video them to see what they were up to. We caught them! Naughty little monsters.

Values assembly

Today the Kereru team was in charge of the school values assembly. This weeks value is COURTESY. Room 22 was in charge of performing a skit about using manners. Bella and Taylor volunteered to be our actresses. They did a fabulous job. Check out their skit!

Kereru Sharing

Today room 22 was on Kereru Sharing. We did a great job sharing our learning with the rest of the team. 

Drama!

Today was the first day of our drama rotation. Every week room 22 will go to a different Kereru class and learn some different drama skills. Our drama theme is 'People who help us'. Today we talked about vets and farm animals. Here are some pictures of us pretending to be farm animals!

Back to school!

Welcome back to term 3! We have had a great start to the term. We have so many exciting things to do this term - we have our iPads, the life education bus with Harrold the giraffe, special persons day, cross country and book week!

Thursday fun day

This morning we are celebrating a fantastic term of learning. We are having lots of fun with finger knitting, loom bands, art and play dough. Here are some pictures of our awesome morning! 

Counting strategies

Today Miss Broadbent gave us the challenge of figuring out how many counters we had using different counting strategies. The strategies we use were: counting in tens, fives, twos, and ones. We were all very successful! Check out the pictures of us counting, and our results!

Shaving Foam

Today we played with shaving foam for writing! We drew pictures, made shapes and made a big mess! Afterwards we wrote stories about our awesome activity. It was so fun! Check out our photos.

Growth Mindset

This week we have been learning about growth mindset or growing our minds. We learned that our brains are muscles so we can make them stronger! We can grow our brain muscles by challenging ourselves and trying our best.  We don't need to be afraid of making mistakes because mistakes help us learn and grow our brains. We also learned that if we don't know something, that's okay - we just don't know it YET. But we will! 

Everyone in room 22 has challenged their brains this week and our brain muscles are growing :)

The Bee Lady

Today the Kereru team went and met the bee lady. She taught us so much about bees! We also got to taste honey, look at some bees, make a candle, and draw a bee picture. Room 22 made a brainstorm of some facts we learnt today. Now you can learn all about bees too!
